Engine Stand Yoke

Good Morning,

Long time forum lurker here.. im starting a Carrera 3.2 tear down and rebuild project next month, i've been looking for a used 5 arm engine yoke (with the notches to clear a crossover pipe and engine oil cooler). Is anyone looking to part with one?

Buy one, use it, and sell in the classifieds here for 80% of what you paid for it. Pass it along.

Cheers

+1Jeff, then build a good strong engine stand to go with it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1656678172.jpg

Do you have plans/drawings for the above engine stand? I have a couple of HF engine stands and am looking to modify one for a coming 3.2 pull myself.

Agree with the buy and then pass along.

I do have plans, will pull out and post jmd88

Stand plans

This is what I have. This stand is a copy of the engine stands Jerry Wood uses to hold up the heavy 930 plus. I asked if I could copy it when I was taking his engine building class about 2002. Markhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1657124238.jpg

You can also buy the rolling stand from Harbor Freight for like $75. The Porsche engine yokes are compatible with it.

Agreed. That JW stand is sweet but, not necessary. Unless you’re a pro or, doing multiple rebuilds. You’ll spend well over $100 on materials. Not to mention the time investment.

We have 8 similar stands store bought. Look essentially the same. I will take pics of them tomorrow.

I use an OTC 2012A stand. Its very similar to the Jerry Wood design and it works with the yoke.

They sell this one with four arms so something like an ATV jack can get the engine up to the stand.

thanks for the input all, i just went with the P01 knock off. After a few seconds of grinding, the yoke cleared my crossover pipe flange no problem. Now to get the heat exchangers off..
