993 cylinder base seal issues

Anyone else had issues w/ oe 3.6(not 3.8) cylinder base seals?

I'm being told that the green Victor Reinz are not the ones to use, Wrightwood are but seem to be difficult to obtain

a black flattened version is also available and preferred

Supertec sells Wrightwood but a better solution is an internal groove cut in the spigot that holds an o-ring that compresses against the cylinder.

As you mention, no on VR. Wrightwood kits are superior.

I saw a 3.6 have to come apart again after a "reseal" with VR at a local shop. It leaked like a sieve. Was put back together with a Wrightwood.

If our host doesnt have it Henry can help or EBS.

Sealing the 3.6 base can be a challenge but the popper o-ring with a small amount of Curil T is nice insurance.

To further possibly complicate things the case is an '89 964 while everything else is 993

Does that make any difference?

Henry, I see that Curil T is being replaced by Curil T2... which seems to be a more "runny" texture... Have you used the newer version? Can it be used in all the places we normally used the original Curil T?
Mike

Cases and cylinders are basically the same.

We are using the T2. I think you'll find that it gets thicker after you squeeze out a small amount.
