I searched the forum for this issue and did not find an answer.
I'm getting ready to order a ton of miscellaneous parts for my top end engine rebuild. This order will include the top end gasket kit along with a bunch of other stuff. I'm assuming that the third party kit suppliers include all of the parts that are listed in PET for the OEM Porsche kit. Is this a valid assumption? In order to understand the contents of the kit and to not duplicate parts, I have been going through the part numbers in the kit as listed in the PET, and then searching the complete PET for each part number to see what it is and to make sure that I don't order any of those things as individual parts. But there are more than a dozen part numbers for seals, o-rings, etc. that are ONLY listed in the kit. A search of the entire PET for those things does not turn up any drawing with the seal or o-ring on them. So how do I figure out what these things are, and why do they only appear in the kit? If they were superseded parts I would still expect to find their numbers somewhere on the drawings. Is there a better way to figure out what comes in these kits? Thanks. Try looking into what's in a lower end kit. Not much. The rest is in the top end kit. Get a Wrightwood kit if you're worried.
