Snowman
Hey snowman, I think you've had your head too close to those microwave transmittters too long.
Wayne = Multi-book Porsche author, Porsche parts supplier (the largest I know of), non judgemental (unlike some), and there to answer questions. Wayne is a valuable resource that I have used and passed along to my porsche mechanics, who have devoted their lives to Audi and Porsche but still didn't know all the answers. He wouldn't be where he is today if he didn't know his stuff. Snowman = Guy who likes to flame people who do not agree with him. Can't we all just get along. Mike |
back to the topic,
John How's the rebuild coming? |

The case is 3.0, 930-04 case, aluminum. As to why the thread got OT, I have no idea, I just wanted to share my rebuild info. I plan to keep posting photos as the rebuild goes along. |

There is a saying:
Those that say, don't know Those that know, don't say JW knows and imparts his wisdom to those that need it and want it...He doesn't have to or need to pontificate. I will take JW's word as gospel when it comes to Porsches Dave |
Amen, Dave!
The problem with a guy like Snowjob is that he spreads misinformation. Porsche novices like me can pick up on this crap and make mistakes unwittingly. I hope true experts like John Walker don't get tired of posting the facts here. |
I'm also puzzled by his "advices"... like "heat your head-studs cherry red" , "hone your Nikasil cylinders" , "engine is not worth anything beacuse it sat still for 20 years" etc. etc.
These things are just of the top of my head, and I don't even frequent engine rebuild forum or consider myself especially knowledgeable when it comes to 911 engines. Worst case scenario would be that stuff like this bodges someones rebuild or scares away real experts that have been aboard for years and helped us all numerous times (JW, Harald, S-man etc.) I really admire Wayne for being so polite... I also enjoy looking at other peoples rebild process and learning from them. Let's keep it that way. |
OK somebody start a poll that asks, "who would you take engine rebuilding advice from?" and the only choices are snowman, Wayne, and John Walker.
Lets see how many snowman gets. |
Gentlemen,
I know you've all heard this saying before, but: "The more you know, the less you know - the less you know, the more you know." Everyone must repeat this to themselves occasionally to maintain balance. No one person knows everything. I think those who know would agree. My heavy thought for the day, Sherwood |
