Just the smoke out the exhaust. I haven't driven it enough to really read the plugs but they're jet black. I will have the car back this weekend I think, then I can , if it's driveable, give it a whirl under load for maybe a few miles and see what it does. I'm not even sure the rings have seated, since there's under 10 gallons of gas run through the motor and all of it is idling or working on the carbs, no actual driving.

Oops, that didn’t sound right. I mean with your engine. Other issues like ignition, or mechanical engine issues.

I am hoping there are no mechanical issues. If it isn't in the carburetors, or the valve adjustments, I think it almost has to be in the ignition, which is a 15 year old HPV-1. I think Mayo's shop can at least tell me what the problem is without costing three fortunes. We'll see. Meantime I think I',m going to try driving it around the block over the weekend.

Got the car back! Hard to put in reverse, some of the gauges don't seem to work. but it's back in my possession. Have an alignment scheduled for Wed Dec 7. We'll see what happens!

Plugs 4 5 and 6 are fouled, not sure if they are oil-fouled or fuel-fouled. Second mechanic says he thinks the 'reverberations from the cam are disturbing the fuel flow'. I dunno, maaaannn...goes to Mayo next week.

Car will be going to Mayo's on Monday. I set this appointment up in October sometime, he has a 6 week or so wait list. Hopefully he will be able to dial it in a lot better. OR make recommendations on what to change.

Instead of 993SS cams I got what they called 'the second biggest cam you can put in a 3.0' but they didn't name names. Finding that out meant they could set the timing correctly for it, and they've done that and are still tweaking, but the guy decided to drive it to the gas station to get some gas and said it was 'really streetable' and 'sounded fantastic from the driver's seat'. with excellent performance characteristics and no blips to speak of on gear changes. I am quite encouraged!
