Top few performance engine builders, CA and AZ
I have a new to me, 1974 Carrera 2.7RS US spec. It has already been converted to PMO 40s and SSI exhaust. I want to have the engine built to at least 2.7RS euro specs and maybe a bit more. Old posts show builders, but some of those are gone. I live in AZ, but the car is currently in CA at a Porsche friends house. Anyone have any current great 2.7 engine builders to recommend? Thanks!!

They are 911 air cooled specialists . . . Talk to DJ about your project . . . its better to stop by the shop - phone is busy a lot. They have been our race engine builder since 2008 - now are finishing up our 3.8L rebuild. Wish you the best on your project. Regards, Roy T PS: DJ and John's father opened this shop many years ago and worked for Carrol Shelby in California |
Thanks for the replies. I have heard good things about Don Jackson Enterprises, and to be honest I forgot about them. I did speak to Henry at Supertec. Super knowledgeable, but he really wants me to go MFI for increased value. I want to go with the PMOs that are already on the car as I understand them and can dial them in. This car will be a keeper and drivability is more important to me than the investment. I'm leaning towards twin plug because I think It will be easier to keep it cooler with less pinging here in AZ.

Glenn Yee is currently setting up a new engine specific shop in Vegas. I would talk to him.

Thanks. I checked with DJ at Don Jackson Enterprises. I would like to use him, but he is 1 year out. I will check out Mirage, but unless they can get on it fairly soon, I'll likely drive it until my spot in line comes up at DJE. Too hot to drive in AZ from May through October anyway.
