GT3 oil pump install
I am putting a GT3 oil pump into a 3.6 case with a GT3 crank. The first thing that is obvious if that a case webb will have to be relieved for the pump to be installed or the possibility that these pieces are not compatible. I plan to install the GT3 style seals for the crank. I am guessing that the metal part of the big seal faces the case and the spacer ring goes between the seal and the case. Pictures of the parts and instructions. The spacer ring, some soft material that is just a shim with no contour and costs $90.00. Really. Can someone interpret the seal install instructions. Mainly the orientation of the seal. The instruction would indicate that an applicator is required, but I guess is obligatory manufacturer blather. I feel I may be making this more complicated than it is. Thanks, Bob

That ring is aluminum. Clean well, assemble dry, no oil, clueless about the 4 hour wait deal? Unless it’s to acclimate parts before using?

Yes, you have to relieve the case to get the GT3 pump to fit. You may have to relieve the pump a bit depending on what rods you are using. If you are using Carrillo H-beam rods, you will need to remove some material for rod clearance.

Don’t use those seals they need crankcase vacuum to work
The gt3 pump alone won’t do that . Also would need a check Valve in the breather line Gt 3 engines have additional vacuum pumps Just use standard seals |

Thanks for all the good feedback. The pump body appears to have been relieved by the manufacturer in the area where the #2,3 and 6 rod might contact and am not feeling contact apon rolling it through. Will clay check as visibility is limited and I am thinking one wants a couple of mm due to torque and heat expansion. Yes, the vacuum issue didn't make sense to me as I couldn't determine what would create excessive vacuum on this particular motor. Bob

Intersting instructions.. is that a seal installation tool?
And is it saying to install the seal onto the crankshaft, dry?
