When was the 8.6 to 9.1 compression change?
I have interesting 1980 911sc, made in 10/1979. It has features of the '79 car(i.e. fuel pump) and features of the 1980 model.
Does anyone have an engine number that will tell when our German masters changed to the higher compression ratio? Any other tell tale signs? |
According to my book, the change took place in the 1980 model year. I got this info from a variety of original Porsche sources, so I'd assume it's correct.
640 0001 would be the first engine number for the USA cars. See page 202 of the Engine Rebuild Book (www.101projects.com). -Wayne |
Sneaky!
I was going to buy the damn book anyway, you don't have to make references to things I don't own yet...sheesh!
I'll be calling you Monday with my order, Thanks for the info. Rick |
Not really a reference - I just don't like to repeat myself! :)
