Piston ring question
 

Rebuilding a 2 liter six.
A fairly reliable source told my builder to avoid using multiple piece oil ring. As reference, using Mahle p/c. Have a set that includes that configuration but obviously would not use if issues.
Anyone have knowledge of that situation.
