SnapGap Tool Shims

The shims I received with the SnapGap tool I ordered were marked 0.10 mm but measured 0.04 mm thick with my digital caliper.

It is recommend the future customers measure the thickness of the shims they receive prior to installation.

You may want to check your units. 0.1mm is 0.04 inches.

Corrected: 0.1mm is 0.004 inches. Thank you, Tony.

Lauran,

Are you sure your micrometer is properly calibrated? I just did the measurements today of the Snap Gap shims provided are precisely at 0.10 mm (0.0039”). See pictures below:

Standard 0.10 mm filler gauge:

I measured multiple times both the Snap Gap shim and the standard OEM 0.10 mm filler gauge and got identical measurements.

Drew,

Check your decimal point.

1.0 mm = 0.03937 in.
0.1 mm = 0.003937 in.

Tony

Note:
Edited for typo.

Thanks for catching the typo. Will correct the mistake.

I have measured a SnapGap shim with my micrometer rather than my caliper and have found that the shim has a thickness of 0.004 inches (0.10 mm) exactly as advertised by the vendor. I apologize for the statement that I made earlier.
