Need competent 911 engine rebuilder

Orange County California looking for competent 911 engine rebuilder. Spoke to over a half dozen shops in the LA area and everyone is slammed. Can anyone suggest a competent and reasonable rebuilder who might have availability? Thank you.

Speaking of the West Coast…I have only sent out piece work this past year and it seems every shop is very busy. Ollie’ (Porsche Machine Shop) in Lake Havasu, California Motor Sports (Transmission rebuilder) also Lake Havasu, Competition Engineering (Porsche Machine Shop) Lake Isabela.

I have used Becker6 in Oregon. I only had my heads done, but he is excellent. He does complete engine building. A bit far from SoCal, but he is an option. He’s only a crate and truck away.

If the piece work machine shops are busy, that to me indicates the status of rebuilders is the same.

Have you called our own Henry Schmidt at Supertec? He is very active in this sub forum. He is very informative and really knows his stuff. His website doesn’t show specifically he does complete engine rebuilds, but he would know a few engine builders.

Here is a recent thread on your subject.

I might suggest you contact Bruce Abbott, flat6pac on this site. He built my 3.2 engine and a couple of others I know of and has been building Porsche motors for 3+ decades. Honest, skilled and easy to work with. My engine has 9K miles on it now, broken in properly and has had no issues- just runs great. Yes, you would have to ship the motor to him- not a big deal really.

Henry Schmidt @ Supertec Performance has built four 911/930 engines for me over nearly 3 decades.
An artist that builds Porsche with a passion.
My 3.5 liter 380hp street engine. Still running strong, after 24 years and 63K miles

I would also recommend Henry at Supertec. He's fantastic. I'm currently building my 964 engine and he machined my heads, new cams, rockers, upgraded the early model Cylinders to the later model.
