Early oil pump question

Doing an “improved “ 2 liter six and have had case bypass work done.
What is recommended mod to stock oil pump other than buying high dollar late pump.
Thanks

The bypass mod is an advantage regardless of which pump you put in there. You don't need a high volume oil pump to take advantage of the bypass mod.

The mod basically just redirects spent oil from the pressure relief valve. The original way dumped it into the sump. The mod redirects it to the oil pump inlet, taking a little load off the scavenge pump. In the later "small" pumps they took the opportunity to increase the pressure side of the pump (and decrease the scavenge side a bit).

Keeping your early pump, you should get exactly the same oil pressure you would have gotten without the bypass mod. For a 2.0, I'd be happy with this. In fact, I did exactly this on a 2.7L race engine years ago, and always got 70-80 psi oil pressure.

Looks like I answered the wrong question. Having your pump gone over is a good idea. But there isn't a mod to increase the volume it will pump. These are fixed volume pumps, with the volume defined by the size of the gears (and RPM obviously). Porting mods can help the pump operate more efficiently though. The shop mentioned above has a good reputation for doing this. More importantly, they'll go through it to confirm it's within spec.

pump

I read you need a 4 bar SC pump to go with the oil by pass mod.
