Used Original SSI Price?

I have a '77 2.7L and I plan on buying a set of SSI Heat Exchangers. For a used/good condition Original SSI (before Dansk bought them); what would be a reasonable price? They are a little bend but I think they look decent.

Dansk’s SSI Exhaust………..

How is the new Dansk’s SSI exhaust performance compared to the original USA made SSI exhaust? A nice used SSI made in America costs MORE than a new Dansk’s SSI from our host. Could someone share their experience with the new Dansk SSI? Thanks.

I'm also looking to buy some SSI headers for my 2.7. I'm getting lots of offers for what looks like SSIs but they are asking around 500-600 which seems low to me.

Is there anything I can do except to see if the SSI part is stamped on the header?

Are you looking to sell them? PM if so

What Am I Missing?

A good set of used SSI exhaust (Made in America) is selling more than the cost of a brand new Dansk SSI (Made in Europe). Why? Is the quality of the new Dansk SSI is so much inferior that people rather pay for used one instead of a new exhaust? Please help me understand the logic. Thanks.

Ssi

I paid $1300 for a set made in California around 2019 used but no dents for MFI

I was lucky enough to speak with John Daniels and purchase a few sets of SSI’s he had before the transition to Dansk. I needed a late SC version and a early SC version since I wanted to “backdate” my SC engine.

When I installed them on my SC I was shocked at how well they fit, I mean they actually fit better than the restrictive factory system. The little sleeves that fit inside the exhaust ports were spot on. I have the other set NIB for when I complete my engine (hopefully I will start soon). John also commented on an improved alloy in the later versions that eliminated the possibility of cracks which, although rare, that I believe could happen on early versions.

SSI quality control (perfect fit, welds, etc.), and of course no rust, were the main reason for their vaunted status among the air cooled crowd.

I installed a set of the Dansk a few years ago and had no issues with fit or the quality of the product.
I’ve put thousands of miles on them ( some times 12 hours of straight driving) and would buy them again.
