Distributor Drive Gear for Different Makes

Would the brass distributor drive gear that is mounted on the crank shaft have been the same for all brands and models of distributors?

I am rebuilding a 1970 914-6 engine (aka 1969 911T 2.0L). I removed a Bosch 0231159002, but am installing a Marelli S112BX distributor.

I had seen a video suggesting that not all distributors work with all drive gears? I don't want to wait till I get my case together to find out it is the wrong gear for our distributor.

Yes, the Marelli works in place of the Bosch onthe early cases
By 72 the dist shaft size and lock down changed
The crank drive changes to CCW for the SC.

The early (VW) trademarked brass distributor drive gears were good and we used new ones all the time. Then they weren’t available and replacement gears didn’t look as good. Don’t know if that is still the case. We started using for CW application the Carrera 3.2 brass crank gear and corresponding distributor pinion, which had tighter running clearance, with good results. WARNING; don’t mix 901 and 930 (Carrera) distributor drive parts, they aren’t interchangeable even though both are CW rotation.
