Need 3 rods for current build

We are blessed to be able to do this work as a business. We help many with their engine projects that include rebuilds and machine work from the early most simple and basic engine builds, to the very high end air-cooled and water cooled versions of the Porsche engines. Our involvement also includes the latest McLaren V8 engines as well as other makes.

Our passion for this work has allowed us to do this for many years. Occasionally we get asked to help those that may not be so fortunate. Case in point, why we need 3 connecting rods.

We are rebuilding/restoring including all of the machine work required, for a customer I will not name who is battling cancer with a bleak outlook on expected life expectancy. Very sad situation.

He owns an early 911 that has sat for years without a running engine. When his kids were small, he enjoyed taking them for rides. His wish is to have the car running again and leave it to his kids to enjoy and to remember him of.

We are doing this work "pro bono" as our contribution to his wish.

We have 6 rods, 2 sets of 3, close to the same weights. I need and will buy 3 rods in the 699.0 gm weight overall or 3 rods in the 670.0 gm weight overall. They need to be rebuildable, not bent or have any damage. A full set of same weight is also a possibility.

These need to be 127.00mm CCL, 56.00mm BE and 22.00mm pin diameter.

Email me with anything you have available.

Thankyou, Neil

Wish I had some parts to donate. Very kind of you to be helping.

I would gladly donate a rod or two but 45 days ago I sold my used parts inventory. Well over 1000 Porsche rods.

Back to your needs. It might help to know the engine you're building. The rod spec you gave us don't make sense.
The only rods with a 56mm big end were 2.4, 2.4 and 3.0.
They all had 22mm pins but they were all 127.8mm center to center.
the other important measurement is big end width.
2.4/2.7 were 24mm+or- and 3.0 were 21.7mm +or-.
We've found that even a talented machinist can't balance a 911 rod the is out 9 grams so we would need the end weights as well. We've seen rods in the same motor over 4 grams out.
That said, early Porsche 911 rods are cheap. You're best off sourcing a matched set to rebuild.
cheers

Henry,

You are correct. I made a mistake.

I need 2.4L/2.7L rods

127.75mm CCL
56.00mm BE
22.00mm SE
23.72mm BE width

Sorry for the conversion. I am not that up to date on these earlier engines.

I have a 2.7 set in great condition I could donate

This is probably of no help, but I have 6 95 993 rods in decent shape . Yours if they will help in any way.

This is the kindness and cooperation that we need more of in this world.
