Yea I noticed that side of the thrust bearing is warn to the copper layer, so you are absolutely right about that, I think I need to replace at least the thrust bearing. All others are almost brand new with their date stamp showing 11/84 .. the engine is is '86 though.

Check the actual clearance of the thrust bearing. It may be showing copper, but the coating on the thrust face is pretty thin, so it may be well within spec.
