Intermediate shaft bearings - Glyco quality?
Are intermediate shaft bearings from Glyco problematic like rod bearings? I recall that Glyco main bearings haven't had the issues that rod bearings have, but intermediate shaft bearings get more beaten up than crank mains. What say ye?

The race engine builders here can provide more definitive responses. I doubt it makes any difference in a street engine, and Bruce Anderson's book advises against it. Nevertheless, I cleaned up the casting roughness in the intake and exhaust ports and rounded off the edges of the guide support bosses. Just because.
I swear it makes another 0.15 HP!!!

Have not had an issue with Glyco intermediate shaft bearings, to the point we always have between 6-10 sets in stock for future builds, as at one time, they were hard to find.
Cheers

Just FYI original Porsche IMS bearings are also not very expensive, if I recall it was around €50 for the set or so?
Given that these bearings usually wear quite a bit faster than rod and main ones, I bought original for piece of mind.

EVERY motor we have ever openned up had worn PORSCHE intermediate shaft bearings... Copper on all of them.... Porsche does not make the bearing. They buy it from someone....
![]() Much like the oil filters we buy direct from Porsche.... Cheers
