crank/rods

So im test fitting a rod on a crank. When i have the crank horizontal and i turn the rod on the journal, i can hear it slightly touch the crank on the sides at times, i believe its called the thrust . If i have the crankshaft vertical, where the gravity is pushing the rod down against one side of the crank thrust, and i spin the rod, i hear it rubbing / touching even more.

Is this normal?

or should it be silent with no touching? I have clearance as I can move the rod side to side a bit, which i suspect is normal.. but not sure if clearance is even all the way around.

how could i determine if the bore on the big end is square with the rod. Would that cause it to rub? It was resized by a machine shop but is there a way to double check?

thanks in advance

Machine shops have special tools/jigs for checking and rebuilding rods. No easy way to do it at home. Check that the side clearance is the same all the way around. Tech spec book says 0.20 - 0.35mm or .008"-.014".

New bearings- torqued arp bolts to 30ftlbs.....should be 40 when fulled torqed.... Im guessing its normal to touch slightly.? I don't see anything that could prevent it from touching, especially when the crank is vertical.
I just seen videos where people spin them and it dont look like they are touching anything.

the handful that I've done the crank is polished on the area where the side of rod BE touches it and the rod is smooth on that area too, so if there's any oil they spin pretty freely.
