Notorious oil leak solved

Many years I was hunting down an oil leak on the RHS valve cover of my 1969 911T…….

It was difficult to trace down where the oil came from. It always ended up at the bottom exhaust valve cover studs. Drips on the end of the studs as they are the lowest point. And smoking when hitting the heat exchanger…….
As said, turbo cover plates, silicone gaskets, gaskets with the silicone bead.
Whatever I tried it did not really help. The dripping was consistant and did not really increase over the years.

When reading on this forum on leaks from the rocker shafts, I remembered that I have the special conical rocker nuts that take an O-ring, (Not the rs seals). By tightening they expand in the bores and normally seal flawless. Just to be sure I checked the rocker shaft posistions if one was starting to wander. They all looked good position wise, however when I re-torqued them 2 on the RHS of the engine where very loose.

Conclusion after checking and re-torqueing all shafts and 700 km drive, no drips and bone dry!!!

Hope this could be of any help for someone..
Happy days
Cheers,
Bart
