Craig Garret (cgarr) Machinist

Highly recommend Craig if you need machine work done. Good communication, fair price, quick turnaround and excellent work.

Wheres he located?

I have had head and rocker work done by Craig. High quality workmanship at a price that won't make you swoon. He is in Michigan.

Cgarr

He recently rebuilt a set of SC heads for my pending build. Great work at a fair price, quick turnaround and good communication - none of the wait a year and/or no response nonsense that seems to be the norm at some shops these days…

As a shop that also does Porsche specific machine work, by all accounts, Craig does great work. I've seen lots of his work posted over the years and it looked top notch.
I hesitate to recommend services without first hand knowledge but from the reports I've read and heard, I would feel confident in recommending his service.

“cgarr” did my heads and later twin plugged them.

Good work, super inexpensive, and insane TAT.

He meets the 3 out of 3 and not the 2 out of 3 everyone speaks of

Craig did my 72 heads and some crankcase work and was excellent

Incredible Service Quality………

Sometime ago, I sent a set of rockers that needed new bushings and they arrived in Michigan on a Friday. A few days later, I received them. The quality of work was difficult to match. I called his shop and spoke to him. I informed him that I had not paid him a penny for his work, yet he shipped it before any payment was made. What an incredible individual. You will respect and love this person.

Another happy CGARR customer

Communication and knowledge was excellent.
Quality of work excellent and priced fairly.
Well packed and shipped quickly.

74 twin plug, rocker rebushing and surfacing, new guides, valve job, Ti retainers and hypo springs, surfaced head mating surface, ported intakes to 37 mm.

No reservations, i"d use him again in a heart beat.

Craig did my SC heads recently, too. Twin plug, new valves, studs etc.. Sent my heads back to me before I even paid!

Craig does excellent work. You can trust him and his work. He communicates well and he's a man of his word. For the high quality workmanship that he provides, his prices are very fair. I highly recommend him. He did my early SC heads and rockers and they look great. I mailed him my rods this week and they will be done and shipped back by next week. Who else provides that level of service?

recent experience

I just received my parts back from Mr. Garrett last week and they look very good to my novice eye. This is my first 911 engine rebuild and Mr. Garrett listened to my plan and the parts I have already accumulated and dispensed good advice. If the quality of the work is as meticulous as the packaging then I should be in good really shape. His prices were very fair and the overall process was painless. But I am most excited about the how good all the parts look ahead of a cleanup & reassembly.

Is email the best way to contact GT performance or does he have a phone number? I wanted to get some machine work done.

Thank you.

I emailed him and he got right back with me.
I just got around to installing the oil cooler he tested and cleaned for me.
Neat details on his work.

I used the email on this thread. Is Garrett@iserv.net the best email?

fabracadabra 02-08-2025 10:47 AM
