Case Hardware Question

After many months, I am going to put my 3.0 SC engine back together. Tonight, I opened my little baggie of case hardware and cleaned everything up.

I will be replacing the washers and nyloc nuts. I noticed that the original nuts are yellow zinc. I purchased clear zinc coated steel nyloc nuts (see baggie at the top). I assume these are fine?

Also, can I re-use the beveled case thru bolt washers? I am referring to the three washers in the bottom of the photo (of course there are a lot more on the thru-bolts not shown here).

Yes you can reuse the beveled washers, nuts are fine if you want them yellow dip them in a dilute acid 5% rest water for 30 seconds followed by a 30 second dip in sodium dichromate.

Thanks for the info!

Agree with Dpmulvan. Those look pretty good in the picture. If they are not pitted with corrosion, reuse them.

My one minor regret in my own engine rebuild was not to ship off all the hardware for refinishing while the major parts were out being machined etc.
Does it add HP? Nope. But it just looks so much nicer. And that's part of enjoying a hobby too.
Future engine builders: add it to the punch list!

Hah! After you put the fan shroud and induction on, you won't see them.

We clean, tumble and replate those parts....

Cheers
