machining case halves.
On another thread a pelican posted about his chains tensioners pushing the chains too far into the case and rubbing. It appears that they may have machined the case halves and which affects every other dimension.
If the case halfs are indeed machined can some type of shim plates be made that can be put between the case halves to bring the dimensions back to stock or is that an impossible solution? |
How much did they machine. .010-.015'' will usually suffice. Twice that is not enough to upset the cart. Larger idler sprockets or lash caps on the tensioner pistons will keep the chains in correct tension. You may actually have to shim the cylinders as the piston is now up higher, so you are back to sqBob

to square 1.

Thanks. Not for anything i am working on, the guy on the forum has a chain too long problem

I saw that thread. A few different parts could have been machined to have his motor end up that way:
Case (matings halves, cylinder spigots, or both) cylinders heads Or all of the above. Or someone just took off too much on one or more of the above. |
