Drilling pattern - twin plug lower valve cover
Hi guys,
Getting ready for engine assembly and starting to do all the fiddly bits like sand some of the mating surfaces smooth (triangle of death cover) and one of the tasks is to drill the lower valve covers for the CoP's that I am installing. Brief summary of the engine build: 3.4 w. 98mm Mahle 10.3 pistons, Carillo rods, 930 oil pump, large port SC heads, Doherty D35 cams, PMO ITB's with CoP's, Motec. Exhaust is Cargraphic with Eisenmann exchangers and Motec controlled bypass valves for the muffler. Target is high speed (like autobahn) street use According to Rasant, the lower CoP's don't need a retaining clip, but they most definitely need a hole. Does anyone out there have a pattern for drilling those covers? I'd like to get the crackle finish done before I get onto the engine build as I have engaged an expert builder who will allow me to "help" him build it, don't want to hold him up waiting for details. Let me know...much appreciated in advance! D. |

Center the first hole on the cover edge them move down using these measurements, will get you close enough
Use a 1 1/4” 2 flute end mill https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...31443d5115.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...26c08ec39a.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
