Looking for rebuilding course

Hi
I am looking for an engine rebuild course for either the 2.7 or 3.0 l engines. Starting from tear down.

The background is that I have a rebuilt 2.7 engine with low mileage in my 1975 Targa. The lower case bolts ( heli-coiled) are pulling through and oil is dripping quickly. The rebuild was 15 years ago, car is running however, I’d like replace the case with one of the new unstamped cases from Porsche and I want to do it myself with qualified instruction and oversight.Where would I find a tutor?

Are you able to Travel to Philadelphia for it?

Engine Rebuilding Course

I attended the Bruce Anderson and Jerry Woods' class in Campbell, California in 1998. It was a fantastic class. At the completion of the class, I was able to build my 1976 930 motor with no problem. The class was pretty unique. Jerry Woods built a customer's motor while we watched, and asked questions, and took notes. Bruce was there as the historian, giving us lots of information about the history of the motor and Porsche racing. Done correctly these classes are great support for the first time Porsche engine builder.

I was at Jerry Woods class also in 2002, also great. Bruce Anderson wife was selling the rebuild manuels for both 911 engine and trans if needed. Mark

Hey Jim, did you ever hear back from Stephani regarding those rebuild manuals? I'd be interested in one if they're still available. Thanks...Steve

Soko121 02-10-2025 04:11 PM

I too would be interested in build manuals if you know of any available ?

JimsFuchs 02-21-2025 04:02 PM

Sorry Soko121 and schiarchianis,

Thx
Jim

I do have the engine manual, the last time I was asked to make copies Stephani got a little upset. Thats when I asked her to make them available to our market. If I make copies it would be only at the cost to copy and ship (no profit). Will get back to you. Mark

You can contact Stephanie at: stephani@mac.com

I just ordered the three manuals from her. She said, "And, if you know other Porsche guys let them know that I still sell those Manuals. Helps me a lot."

This was taken from another forum... pricing may have changed:

"Thank you all for ordering the Class Manuals. Below is updated info. I will continue to print and bind to make them available as long as there is interest. Bruce would be blown away at the response. I do not have them in PDF form. I am looking into this option - so stay tuned.

There are 3 different class manuals that cover Air Cooled 911's only:

911 Engine Overhaul (50) pages); 911 Transmission Overhaul (30 pages); 911 Maintenance (26 pages)

In the U.S., the cost of each (includes shipping) would be for 1 manual $30; for 2 manuals $50; for 3 manuals $70

Outside the U.S., the cost of each (includes shipping) would be for 1 manual $50; for 2 manuals $70; for 3 manuals $90

Contact me at: stephani@mac.com

You can either send me a check or pay me through PayPal.
NOTE: I would appreciate it if you would pay the PayPal fees when you send money. Thank you.

Mailing address: P.O. Box 775, Plymouth, CA 95669"

MAKING COPIES OF Bruce Anderson's manuals is against Federal COPYRIGHT LAWS.
I know this because my Wife is a writer of novels.

That is unfair to the widow of this great Porsche icon who donated so much of his time to the Porsche marque!

Emo993 02-25-2025 02:59 AM

TibetanT, totally understand. Thats why I asked Stephani about 12 years ago to sell them. She is not answering e-mail. I'm going to try Jerry Woods again as to his position. Just FYI, these are not copyrighted and are just a guide, we all took lots of notes. Best, Mark
