3.6 Crankshaft in 3.0 case - Can I still run and aircon compressor?

I'm looking at fitting a 3.6 crank to a 3.0 case.

The crank pulley to suit, is available from Clewett... he machines off the outer lip that would normally run an aircon compressor, in order for it to fit in the engine console/carrier.

My question is:
Is it possible to use a different engine carrier so that clewett crank pulley doesn't need to be machined down, and an aircon belt drive is still supported?

Hoping someone out there has the answers I'm looking for!

I know I could go down the road of Electrofit Aircon but would prefer the traditional system at this point...

yeah
honestly, I thought someone would have chimed in with a definitive answer by now!

First question: are you using the Clewett serpnatine conversion? If so, the 91-92 965 Turbo cradle should give you the clearance you need if I understand your question correctly.

No, I wasn't planning to use the serpentine belt conversion..

I just check the conventional groove pulley and the 965 Turbo cradle should fit. Our 964 Clewett pulley has a crank trigger which makes it even thicker.

any 964/993 engine mount bar and console should work, they all give t more room than 3.2 console which in turn has a more than the 3.0 console

a potential issue w/ using the 964/993 pieces in a 911 chassis is that the engine sits ~1.25" lower than when using the 911 parts

993/964 cross bars are incompatible with early chassis. It would require some sort of hybrid motor mount.

i'd think twice about using a 964 or 993 turbo mount, I've never used one for this but I do know that the g50/5x used in the turbos is ~1" longer than the g50s used in the n/a cars, this pushes the engine back ~1" more than the in the n/a cars, I haven't a clue how that affects the engine mount console or the crossbar but the 964/993s need to be coaxed a bit to work

When using the 911 parts a 3.6 sits exactly the same as in a 911, when using the 964/993 parts ithe engine sits lower a just a tad further back

when using the 911 mounts w/ 3.6 you also need a single sheave crank pulley due to the lack of room behind the pulley, that's why the 3.0 console won't work, the 3.2 has just enough extra clearance

Additionally the 3.6 tin is much taller than 911 tin, it makes it that much harder to fit the engine w/ 964/993 tin, but there are some great f/g solutions for that.
