Weber throttle plate shaft end to end play
Is there a spec for throttle shaft play end to end ? Getting conflicting info from different sources. Thanks
|
Hi
Assuming the topic is triple choke Webers used on 911 engines. I suspect that shaft end to end play is simply set by the clearance between the installed brass butterfly discs and the bores of the main casting. As little end play as possible, (with no binding) would be desirable. For the shaft with two butterfly discs, they should be centered in their bores and any end to end play should be shared equally. When the shaft coupling is installed, ideally all butterfly discs should be centered in their bores. Cheers |
Disassembly/cleaning - or full rebuild?
Only done this once, but one of the first things that comes to mind is did you replace the bearings, are they fully seated??
Are the throttle shafts straight?? Or, were they bent during the "staking" ?? Are the discs tight?? could the screws be loosened to allow adjustment, to make them close "better"?? Pierce manifolds is a good resource for weber parts/help. Some years ago, i sourced some fully sealed ball bearing and parts to overhaul my old, grungy 308 carbs. (Will probably have to do it again, since ive spent 10 years and all my free time, restomoding my dad's 74 - probably my last hot rod build 2.8 twin plug, big cam, efi, 10.5 JEs, SSI, Scart, recovered sport seats, Jongbloed 15x7s with 205x15 dunlop direzzionales, full suspension/brakes, DUCK and dam. hope to have the time to get on a dyno for a proper tuning. Good Luck, chris |
Let me try again, the carbs are fully rebuilt everything is new and right. I’m just looking for a number for lateral movement if there is one.
