1969 911t 2.0 not been started in 20 yrs HELP!
 

My 1969 911t 2.0 has not been started in 20years. When 1st purchased it I put some gas and a new fuel filter and started it...it ran so I shut it off. Honestly it scared the **** out of me because I didn't know anything about 911's. I purchased the vehicle with many missing parts and low oil. Starter is dead now....but one is on the way. What do you recommend I do before trying to start it up?

I went through this on my 79SC. there are some really good threads on this so I will point you to the search first.

What I did was pulled the spark plugs and fogged the cylinders with stabil fogging oil. Changed the oil. Turned the engine over by hand a few times and let it sit. Turned it over by hand for the next couple days. The idea here is to loosen any gunk in the cylinders and help the rings free up. From here you want to remove the fuel pump relay and go about turning the engine over with the starter. After you have confidence it is spinning smooth, you can work your way through validating spark and fuel. You are way ahead with a quick start and stop, but I would proceed cautiously.

There is a thread that recommends building up run time in very small intervals over a month. I generally followed that. Nurse it back to health like the old car that it is.

Probably a good idea to flush fuel tank and fuel lines and clean or replace the fuel filter elements in the fuel tank and inside the carbs. I would also clean all carburetor jets or better give the carbs a full clean. Also a good moment to replace all rubber fuel hoses near the fuel tank and in the engine bay.

Thanks for the recommendations I will start removing the old fuel, fuel filter and begin slowing bring her back to life. I'll post updates.:)

I'd start by pulling the plugs and turning the engine over by hand to make sure it's not seized. Then change the oil, check for any rodent damage to wiring, and inspect the fuel system, 20 years is a long time for lines and seals to sit.

I have a set of carbs for a 1969 T, just in case you need them.
