Oil Sump Plate
I'm updating the oil pump in my 2.2 to an 86 Carrera model with fixed screen. for some reason, the factory sump plate had no provision for a drain plug. These plates cost about $10. Was there ever a plate for these models made with a drain plug and where does one get one??
Yes, i'm aware Wayne sells a billet job for $80 bucks.

The 3.2 engines did not have a sump plate, they just have a drain plug, so I'm assuming that the sump plate with no drain is an aftermarket unit, and was just cheaper and easier to build without the plug.
The only one I've seen with a plug is the billet one. ![]()

I did the same as you and put a carrera pump on a 2.4, the only sump plate that will work properly is the factory steel convex plate with no drain plug, since the oil pickup screen is attached to the pump you need this plate for clearance. The billet plate available will not fit because it is flat. Yes it is a real PITA to change the oil as you have to remove the whole plate. Maybe some else has the solution?
