My Cylinder air guides don’t look right…
Every manual and book that I have shows a different arrangement than the guides that I pulled out of my engine.
I have a 1985 3.2 that appears to have never been taken apart before I started my tear down. All of my guides have cut outs, including all 4 of the corner pieces. The corner guides: one set of two is cut differently than the other set of two. All of cut outs are punch cut with perfectly rounded inside corners, so I do not think that they have been modified by anyone. Do I have two wrong air guides, or is this the right set up for my engine? If I do have the right guides, I am not sure which corners go where! Any input appreciated. Thanks, Dave http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759609537.jpg Here are just the four corners: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1759609537.jpg |

Hi
Think the link below will help you understand the factory air guide modification for 1964 to 1977 engines: (Production equivalent embodied on later engines like yours.) Cheers https://www.klassikats.com/techincial-service-bulletin-center-air-guide-1964-77-911-930/ |
What you have is correct. The works drawing has the blades going showing both sides of motor.
The 1 inch cutout on the centers goes to the outside, the notched ends go against the case. Bruce |
Thanks guys- the Bentley manual and Wayne’s book must have been showing the older style. Everything I was looking at had one of the end guides with no cut-out.
Huge relief! |
