engine stand
Love the new Book!! Plan to work on my 86 930 engine this winter.
Have a question about the orange engine stand that first appears on page 21. Can you tell me the name of the manufacturer (s)? I want to make sure that I get one that will properly accept the adapter yoke. Also, where is the adapter yoke manufactured? I am wondering if I will have to pay duty if I order from the US. I am also curious about the test stand that is on page 8. Are there drawings for that or possibly a tech note? Thanks, Norm |
Norm,
I don't know the make of the stand in the book. I'd say 99% of them are made in China anyway. The store I bought my stand from had 2-3 types. I just took a caliper with me and measured, knowing the max o.d. of the yoke shaft. I found one that was a perfect fit, so look around. |
Every stand that I've seen appears to have a simlar opening. I bought the engine stand at the Pomona Swapmeet for $20, so I don't know what the brand was....

I bought mine from http://www.harborfreight.com/
I paid about $40 US for a 750 lb stand. The engine yoke fit perfectly (Pelican Parts). A 1000 pound unit is only $10.00 more. They ship anywhere in the world. Harbor Freight has an incredible amount of low cost tools. Most of them are fair quality. For the do-it yourself person of course. |
