Some unrelated help
 

Hey guys I'm a regular poster on the main 911 forum and I run into a little bit of a problem and it's not 911 or Porsche related. I know there are tons of people on this forum who are incredibly intelligent and have run into problems like this before. I'm trying to remove a bearing from a blind hole and I have a collet bearing remover but this is just not budging. I've already broken one set on trying to remove the bearing. Does something else need to be removed before this will come out? I've set wheel bearings and remove them so I'm pretty familiar with how things work but maybe I'm doing something different.
I get it if this is something you're unfamiliar with, but I thought I would at least try the Brain Trust here. Thanks in advance.

First, what is the part?

Do you want to save the bearing or are you willing to destroy it to get it out? If the latter, there is an attachment for a slide hammer that can hook the back side of the bearing, then hammer it out. Can you heat the exterior of the long hole to expand it?

That housing looks like anodized aluminum so you might try some heat.
The aluminum will expand more than the bearing releasing at least some of the pressure holding the bearing.
If you can find a steel rod that fits the bearing ID you might be able to force it out using hydraulics.
Fill the bearing cavity with a heavy grease and create pressure by pressing the rod into the bearing.

Yeah, its a roller in a treadmill. I see people doing it with the slide collet remover with 2-3 taps. I have whailed pretty good on both ends and not a micron of movement. I'm ready to try the heat next-that was my next go-to. I just wanted to be sure if there was another internal clip I didn't see. I have replacements for the bearings, so yeah, they are coming out.
