It is my humble opinion that little details make the biggest difference. Not only has Wayne's book made it easy to tear down my engine, it also cleans up very well. Thanks to the high grade print stock I don't have to take a shower after after looking something up like I do with my Bently and Hayes manuals!

Cool deal - Thanks for the feedback. You really need two - one for the garage, and one for the coffee table...

My experience is that the one i use in the garage makes my guests impressed when it lies on the coffe table with all the oily thumbmarks

Wayne--your book rocks! I had a week off of work, and you can't believe how many pieces my engine is currently in! The good news, is from your book, I now have the knowledge to hopefully put it back together the proper way! I think I'd be struggling without it.
The oily fingerprints definitely add character to the coffee table selections.

I use the preview copy in the garage, and save the colour copy for indoor reference. but then I tend to be greasier than your average DIY'er. I have also used the cd pictures to e-mail, all in all, money well spent.
Did I hear you say something about a BMW book. You know, I've had my eye on an early long hood BMW......

101 Projects for your 3-Series BMW is being worked on right now.
I really can't imagine rebuilding a 911 engine without my book. There's just so much information in there that is not published (or available) anywhere else. -Wayne

I picked up the book about 3 weeks ago and I still can't put it down. There's just way too much to think about when I'll be rebuilding my 73, but wayne's book put it all in perspective.

Tim, are you going to build one of the engines Wayne recommended or something a bit different?

I'm going to be building my super engine over the next several months, and documenting it here on the site. It's not a combination that's listed in the book...

Wayne, I'm looking forward to seeing it unfold here on the forum. So, what's it gonna be?
Some day I'll rebuild the 2.4 in my wife's 73E...probably 2-5 years depending on how the E's engine holds up. I have no specific idea what to build, but it should have more HP and keep the wide power band that the E engine currently enjoys. It'll always be predominately a street car. Between the PP forums and the engine rebuilding book, I'll hopefully come up with a great plan.

I've posted this many times on these two forums, but here goes again:
1977 911 European Carrera 3.0L case Late model Turbo heads, twin plugged and ported by Walt 911 2.7L crank and rods 3.2 RSR 3.0->3.2 upgrade pistons and cylinders Twin Electromotive HPX ignition systems Weber 40 carbs Elgin Mod S camshafts Predictions range from about 240 to 270 HP. My goal is about 11:1 weight/HP ratio in my 914-6. -Wayne

I didn't like the book. The plot was weak, the ending was obvious, and I never really identified with any of the characters. Thank god it was illustrated.

Please Wayne, no shots of you with your shirt off, wrenching on engines. The public must be protected!
