Hydrolocked question
Hello all
Last week I posted about my fuel distributor (Plunger) sticking and flooding the cylinders. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/show...threadid=121474 JW mentioned to pull the plugs, disconnect the battery and turn the engine over by hand to drian the fuel out. Oh by the way I pulled the fuel injectors off and he was right, each cylinder is full of fuel. I used a hypodermeck serenge and a small rubber hose attached to pull the excess fuel out (I think I got most of it). My question is , when I do pull the plugs and turn it over by hand ,will the gas seep down into the exhaust (Thus causing a fire) . And if so how do I prevent this from happening? Are there any tricks or tips to doing this procedure? Thanks for your help. Rick |
You could drop the exhaust, or you can remove the muffler. Then turn it over by hand, and also crank the starter to blow more air through it. Make sure that you disconnect the CD Box though so the car won't start. Also pull the fuel pump relay so that you're not adding more fuel...
