What distributor to use for a 2.0S
Still getting together the final parts to rebuild my 1967 2.0 engine to 2.0S specs. I was hoping someone on the PP board could tell me what the best distributor would be to buy?
For instance, would it be possible to use the distributor from my old stock 2.0 liter, or is it necessary to buy a specific distributor made only for the 2.0S? BTW, it's a carb engine, if that makes any difference. Thanks |
A 2.0S Bosch distributor has a quicker advance curve than the standard 2.0 distributor. My 65 911 has a 911S distributor; the advance is at full tilt a lot earlier, I think just under 3000 RPM. That is the difference between the two distributors as far as I know!

I have built a 2.0S spec engine and I am using a Bosch distributor off a std 911 2.0 it seem to work fine.
It is at full advance at about 3500rpm, I have been running the engine now for a year, and done about 10 race meeting with no real problems. |
I've posted the different distributor curves here for the early engines.
