Engine's out but not as smooth as I would like.

Well I had the chance to drop my motor yesterday in my '82 SC. I used Wayne's 101 Projects book and it was very helpful SmileWavy. I decided to pull the motor and transmission together because they have 154,000 miles on them. I thought it would be a good idea to rebuild both.

Two things could have gone better:

1. The shifting linkage shaft got hung up for a few minutes. Will there be any damage from this? Everything appears fine from the outside. I had no idea how long it was when I was pulling back.

2. The motor leaned over a little while I was yanking it out from under the car and the throttle linkage sheared off at the case. I think that I can use an extractor and get the bolt out. Is that a dealer part or a bone yard part?

The shift shaft that pokes out of the end of the 915 is a pretty strong piece of steel. I doubt you may have bent it.

As for the throttle linkage bolt that sheared, I'm not sure what you are referring to. There are a couple of studs that mount the throttle pivot on top of the backside of the motor underneath the CIS, but I don't see how you could've sheared that off without damaging a lot of other stuff. If you were referring to the bell crank on the 915, there are no bolts there. The pivot shaft is pressed into the case and a cotter pin holds the crank in place.
