Got almost everything except...

Hey guys,
I'm lookin for a couple of things for my 2.4-S to 2.7 RS engine rebuild...

Lookin for a SC oil pump (want more volume and keep the bottom of the engine the same)

Also lookin for a RS distributor P# 911.602.031.04 / Bosch # 0231 169 011 (Something you didn't mention in the book Wayne.. big difference in the curve between 2.4-S and the 2.7-RS distributors)

Please point me in the right direction guys,

Thanks in advance,
Chuck

Shoot, just sold an SC pump on eBay the other day for $275...

It's easy to get your distributor recurved. I believe that Steve Weiner does it at RennSport systems - also Jerry Woods...

I really wouldn't say there is a "big" difference between the 2.4S and RS distributor. Now a Turbo distributor is a whole 'nother horse of a different color...

Thanks for the quick response Wayne,

Please keep your eye open for another SC pump...

Also, wouldn't mind gettin a new RS dist. .... any suggestions?

I believe I may have an SC pump for you. It was out of my 3.0L Turbo. It was installed by the previous owner during a rebuild. I am in the process of rebuilding it again and opted for the machine work and a 964 pump. Let me look at it tonight and I will post a pic and casting number. The motor was very clean inside so i know the pump is good.

Thanks 930,

The deal is I want to keep my 2.4 sump plate and plug...
Not sure if have that ability with your 3.0 turbo pump ...

Wayne?

Cheers and thanks again,
Chuck

While I'm at it…

Please, I need a recommendation for a SoCal rebuilder for my factory ZF LSD

Thanks in advance,

Chuck

This pump is not the factory one installed in the turbo I dont think. Also remember that the early turbos did not have the Large pump like the 3.3's had. I had to modify my case for the 964 pump to fit. It has the screen over the end and looks like what Wayne describes in his book as an SC pump. I had it installed in the 3.0L with the sump plate and plug. I did however have a spacer between the case and plate that was about 3/4" think or so.

Come on now, ask a silly question, get a silly answer:

"Also, wouldn't mind gettin a new RS dist" - these are long gone...

The 3.0 Turbo pump is the same as the 911SC pump.

Here are some pics of the pump I have for sale. Let me know if you are interested. I will be putting it on ebay next week if not.

Looking at your pump...I grabbed the one I plan to use...and it's different.
The number on mine is 964.107.105.4R
What did this come out of?
And...can I get it into my 69S case?

This pump was removed from my 1977 930/50 engine. According to Waynes book on page 77 it is from a 1982 1/2 - 1989 Carrera.
As far as if it will fit your case I will leave that up to Wayne. Looking at the pump it is identical to the earlier carrera Pump except that it has the integrated screen.

"The number on mine is 964.107.105.4R"
This sounds like a 964 pump by the part numbers. If so I believe that you will need to open up the case for it to fit. I upgraded my oil pump with a 964.107.011.11 Pump.

here is a pictureto show how the case was modified.

OK...thanks...now I know I'll have to mill both halves to get it in.
As they say..one pic is worth a thousand words.
Thanks again.

I really did not need the second rib milled as this pump would have fitted with just one machined. At the time I was contemplating installing a pump from a 962 but decided against it. The 964 pump is more than enough to lub and scavenge the motor. The 962 pump just has more pickups and another scavange section.

HawgRyder 09-20-2003 02:23 PM

OK...I see that the second rib does not interfere...now I understand why it was modified.
What tool did you use to cut them down?
Bob

jonesb930 09-21-2003 09:31 AM

I had all the work done at Ollies in Santa Anna, CA. They were recomended by many people including Andial. Looking at the tool marks it apears that they used a ball nosed endmill in a mill. Looking at the radius it looked to be a 1" dia. The work was not that expensive and they were doing several other things to the case at the time (boat tailing, shuffle pinned, checking bore, etc.)
They really did great work and were very easy to deal with.

Chuck Miller 09-21-2003 12:25 PM

930,

Ollies did my work as well...

Thanks for head start on your pump, but I'm gona pass...

Thanks again,
Chuck

No Problem Chuck. I will put it up on ebaythen. I figured I would give a fellow Pelican member first shot. Good luck on your rebuild.

Bill
