75 2.7 tapping noise HELP!!!

@ 2,000 rpm it is the loudest after that it either disapates
or gets lost in the wirr of the higher rpms.
thought it was a valve so adjusted valves
it seemed better right after but soon became louder again
it seems to be originating on the driver side of the engine
piston pin worn??
anyone with ideas is appreciated
the sound is more of a tapping than a knocking and very
metalic sounding

I had a bad tapping noise once. I found it was a poor connection on one of my plug wires. It was time to replace. Ran fine after that.

Tony,

Have you taken the lower and then the upper valve covers off and investigated valve clearance? I would also look at my timing chains and make sure they are tight. Do you have the updated Carrera style tensioners?
