Broke an Oil Ring Installing
I broke an oil ring installing it on the piston. Is there any where I could get a single piston set of rings. I have the old rings and could use them in a pinch. Any thoughts? BTW It is for a 3.2l Carrera motor.
Thanks, Arnie |
Who did you buy the rings from?
Most places I know will not break up a set of rings to sell one. AFJuvat |

Thanks for your reply, I found the same issue. I spoke with my machinist and was told that intalling one old oil ring wouldn't be a problem, so I picked my best one and moved on...
Thanks, Arnie AFJuvat... I agree fully with your closing... |
Yikes, your machinist was kidding right? Cutting corners like this on a 911 engine rebuild? I don't think any of the machine shops I know of would recommend using an old, used part in a $8K rebuild - it's just not worth it, and it's just not done.
I think we can get you a single set of rings if you need them... -Wayne |
I had this same problem a few weeks ago and was able to buy one set of rings from ProTechnik in Houston.
Wayne, I would imagine this happens often enough to warrant selling individual sets of rings. |
Same thing just happened to me here!
I called and the customer service guy at Pelican Parts and they said they don’t break up sets. :( Does anyone else know where I might be able to get 1 set of GOETZE rings (95mm-1.5 X 1.75 X 4.0mm), for a '78SC? |

Yes, we can sell individual rings, give Tom a call at 1-888-280-7799x221 and he can special order these for you. I'm having Eugene add these to the catalog too...
