Early 911S distributor options

Guys,
I am rebuilding a 1967 2.0 liter engine to 911S specs. I need a new 911S distibutor. A local mechanic has a leftover new in the box Bosch centrifugal distributor (part number 0 231 159 002) which he has offered to sell me cheap.
I noted that the correct early 911S Bosch Distributor listed in the Pelican catalogue is Porsche Part Number A-602-021-50 priced at $999.00. Since I could buy the centrifugal new one from my local mechanic for much less, is there any reason I shouldn't buy his instead of having to drop $1k for the stock distributor? Am I giving up anything in performance?
Thanks

does it have the same timing curve as the 67S motor?

Don't know. How do I find this out? Is there info on the distributor which would state what the curve is?

I belive it's in your owners manual or the spec manual. I'm at work so I can't look it up right now. Hopefully somone here will chime in who has a spec manual and can give you the timing curve of the 67S

Here's a thread where I posted the data on the early 911 distributor curves. I think that it will give you the data that you need.

Thanks John et al.
The thread you provided shows that the Bosch distributor my local mechanic is offering me will work and will save $$$.

Right - Jerry Woods recurves distributors, as does Steve Weiner at Rennsport. It's much cheaper, and that distributor may not even be available anymore anyways...
