Can someone please give me the year and model engine for the serial number 6310203.

Thank You

The engine is in my 1977 911s I was told it is a 1983 SC 3.0. The fan housing says 911sc on it.

Wayne thank you for the good info. I don't see any letters next to the engine serial number. There is a star like symbol at the begging and end of the serial number. There is no smog equipment on the engine so I would probably say it is a ROW engine.

To ID the engine type look in a similar area. The serial number is stamped into the vertical rib for the fan housing support as you have found. IF you follow that rib where it hits the case there will be a large flat area just toward the front of the engine. The engine type will be stamped there. You will look down on that number.
