Bent head studs.
 

Thought I would consult the brain trust on this one...

I recently had a 2.4 mag case redone by a reputable machine shop (casesavers verify line bore etc.)

I was getting ready to install the head studs and noticed that all but about four are bent. I know they were all straight when I gave them the case but obviously when they removed them they pushed down when turning them out.

So my question is. Would you re-use them?
They are all OEM steel studs.

I'm not afraid of them breaking if they're straightened but I am afraid of not getting correct torque values if I can't get them really straight.

What are your thoughts?

That s*&ks. I bet that you would be fine to reuse them. Then again they are not that expensive so I think that would be a silly bet to make. My first, best choice would be to replace them all.

I wouldn't re-use them b/c I'd be worried about getting them perfectly straight again.

BTW, I can't imagine the force they must have been using to bend the steel studs. When we removed mine last weekend the dilivars which were heavily corroded easily bent but the steels were super strong.

Bent by defination means stretched . . . have the shop replace them.

If you can easily remove them, then just replace them - they aren't expensive...
