What case do i have?
Hi all,
My case is a 901-101-102-7R and 901-101-101-7R I'm trying to identify the oil bypass mod. I used a photo that was posted on this site a while back. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/show...&threadid=67789 The photo doesn't look anything like what my case looks like. I have the updated (solid) oil relief pistons AND the '76 oil pump. Do I have a 1976 case and not a 1974? Thanks Tristan |
This may not help. Here is my '76 case after the mod was done. See the plug in the oil pasage to sump hole?

Thanks. My case does not look at all like that. What part numbers are on your case halves?

Yours looks like the pic i have. BUT it doesn't look like my case. What are the part numbers of your case halves?
Here's mine: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1071187849.jpg |
mine is a 7R, but that case can be with or without the mod. If the case has the hole where I circled, it does not have the mod. If it has a plug, or no hole it does have the mod.

Ho Hum - - go ahead and get the mod done. It is pretty inexpensive, especially since you've already got the appropriate pump. As I believe Warren mentioned to you in another thread, running the updated parts without the passage modification will result in oiling problems that will negatively impact the engine. Read Wayne's book or search on "magnesium case" here for other suggested procedures to be done to the case while it is apart.

Guys,
I would love to get the mod done BUT my case doesn't match the photos Wayne has or the other pictures that people have shown me. Now why is my case so different? Tristan (now in Germany) |
You're looking at the wrong case half- look at the other side...
