Throttle bodies
What to do when ole man winter is having his way in the northeast.
Build wiring harnesses: for the coils, for the ecu, for the injectors. All will go through a 22 pin weatherpac connector.

Nice Work TimT. Now I'm inspired. I'll need to find some time to track you down the next time that I'm out on LI and your car(s).

The tb's are by TWM, accel coils, M&W ignition modules. Im going to use Link or Haltech engine management. I also got a Ford (Bosch) cam position sensor, that I am grafting to an old bosch distributor. This way I have crank and cam position, and can go full sequential instead of batch fire injection.
This is all going on a high compression 2.2L race engine. Going into a car that will weigh less than 1900lbs (I hope) I cant wait till spring

Sounds great Tim.
I had some lengthy discussions with the guys at Performance Developments who sell the Link Engine Management. It sounds like a pretty capable system, probably equal to Haltech or Electromotive, and Performance Developments specializes in Porsche applications. Essentially the Clewett Engineering (for Electromotive) of Link. The hardest part of the engine management, as you may well know, is adapting it to the engine. Being in upstate, I can't wait for spring either, and it just started snowing here! |

Link is not a bad system (popular in NZ because it is made hear and thus relatively cheap). The weakness is that it is less easy to program and not as many bells and whistles as Haltech/MoTeC/Autronic, etc.
http://www.link-electro.co.nz/ I quite link the idea one day of mating their computer (or just the Ignition Link, which is probably exactly the same with the fuel part disabled ) to the BMW with carbs. Basically only mapped ignition (with crank fire), to improve driveability.

Cam, Ive done a few engines with Haltech/Electromotive, the link software actually looks a bit friendlier than the haltech, and is way ahead of the Tec2 (I havent used a Tec3 yet so cant comment on it). Maybe the software seems easier because I am more familiar with how to set up engine management now.

Where are you buying your weatherpac connectors?

Hmmm, I was only repeating what I've been told. It is likely that I have been told incorrectly, or that Link have subsequently upgraded their software.

I got the 22 pin weatherpak from Clewett. The other odds and ends weatherpaks I got from local auto parts stores. Did a search of Pelican and apparently they dont carry them
