11 fins means mahle?
I counted the fins on my cylinders, there are 11 of them (on each cylinder, duh ;-)
I've heard that means they are Mahle, but others have said not every time. Any help? If they are mahle, that means they are probably nikasil, right? oh please please please ![]() I'm not planning to pull the heads off at this time (shut up, voices in my head) so I can't look inside the cylinders to tell. |

Post a picture, we should be able to tell. It may be true that most Mahles are Nikasil and most KS are Alusil, but I've seen Alusil Mahles and Nikasil Kolbenschmidts, so you'll never really know until you pull it apart.
My current set of KSs have 11 fins too.

Sorry to burst your buble but when I counted 11 on mine I got all excited only to find that they were alusils once I got everything apart.
Do a search under the board name "kstylianos" (Charlie to those of us here in NoVa) because he posted a bunch of pics from different cylinders that will help you identify what you have.

Sammy, just a thought being that nikasil cylinders are slightly magnetic and alusil isn't, can you take a pick up magnet (the kind I have is like and extending pointer) and slide it in through the spark plug hole and see if you can touch the cylinder wall to see if it is magnetic?
