Oil leak source?
I have an oil leak I would like to eliminate/minimize. It comes from the small opening between the engine and tranny. It leaks primarily after driving the car. If the car sits for a period of time it does not continue to drip. I am guessing it is the flywheel seal. Any other ideas? I'd hate to drop the engine and remove the flywheel only to discover that wasn't the source.

Before you drop your engine, take a look at the oil pressure sender and oil thermostat right next to cylinder #6. Oil leaking from those looks suspiciously like a flywheel seal leak. This area will only leak when the motor is running.
Also, check your breather hose. As they age, they get very hard and tend to crack. Oil can seep out of there as well. AFJuvat |
