Best engine option ?

Hi everybody newbie has OLD question..

I just bought 912 '69 (looks awesome). The car has 2.7L with turbo & 915, racing clutch, special adjustable ignition 3 coils - no distributor - (I forgot the name), mechanical injection, 4 intercoolers, eurotail, 4" rear wheel spacers, updated brakes, headers etc.

The engine will have to come out and I wonder:
1) is it worth to rebuild 2,7 or if I would have a choice, what is the best engine I should consider for the car?

I want:
reasonably priced, acceleration, reliability, durability, street driving (occasional drag), and kick Subaru Impresa butt :)

Things to consider:
We have a joke emission control, no catalizator, and when a cop stops you, they just keep looking at the car and I never get ticket. :)

Also: parts, good Porsche mechanic, special shops or machine shops here are NOT available, junk gas in CR (no more then 91).

Basically, "if" I will purchase or have engine build - which one?

Also turbo (1 or 2) or aspirated?
European or us? (Either one has to be shipped anyway!)

What would you do????

I have been following these forums and saw few great engines for sale at very good price (2.7, 3.0, 3.2, 3.6 and varioram??)

Any friendly suggestions are welcome.

TIA

Get a copy of the Engine Rebuild Book (http://www.101projects.com) - there are lots of answers in there...

4 intercoolers?

I will get the book(s), but in the mean time I would like to hear some good opinions about the engine request so I can start looking.

One friend is going to Germany and can purchase it there. Other friend is going to Italy and he can also make a purchase there.

That's why I am asking.....AND would like to know.

TIA

4 intercoolers?

No sorry.
3 oil coolers and 1 intercooler.
I bought it like that.

How about the engines selection guys?

I would say 3.3 turbo if you want to go really fast, but I am biassed.

AXN:

Go get yourself a nice low-mile 3.6 Varioram motor and connect that to your 915.

If you have the budget, upgrade some internals and install 102mm P/C's, RS cams and RS valves. With the proper exhaust, thats a 300-320+ HP package which is quite potent in a light car like yours.

Don't forget close-ratio gears, too. :)

Been There, Done This setup soooooooo many times and it never fails to entertain.

Hmm, 3.3 or 3.6 at least some ideas.
Yes, I like speed and torque (don't care much about 350 km/hr). Bottom and middle.

I would prefer to go stock. It may be cheaper.

Would I get enough power?
No hassle, no mechanic just bold and cruise.

Thank you very much guys!!

Keep them coming.....

TIA
