machining cyl. head.sealing surface

How much can one machine the cyl. top sealing surface (3.0)without having clearance problems, etc.? seems I pinched a head gasket last year at assembly, it resulted in the outer ridge that the head gaskets sits next to getting crunched. It doesn't look like I'll need to take much material off but probably some.

Ask the machine shop how much is needed. Usually a quarter of a millimeter is okay..
