my toast
After talking to a few people I have considerred the posible rebuilding of my 2.7. Main reason for teardown was horrible leakdown numbers. After pulling thinggs apart I have found all head stud nuts were finger tight. Top were steel bottom were dilivar black all in helicoils. 1 Nicasil cylinder with real bad scoring and moderate wear on all other Alusil Cylinders. At first I was looking for a good 3.0, but after talking to people you never know what kind of motor that is going to be. Im getting Waynes book next week so Im sure that will answer most of my questions. ANy comments on this would be appreciated. Also are there any performance upgrades I should consider? THis is a 102R case w/CIS and S cam.

I say go for the rebuild. The 2.7 has a bad rap, but is a great starting point for a really great engine. You'll end up with something you know was done right, and it's great fun. I'm 5 miles from you, if you need to borrow any of the special engine tools. I have them all...
Good luck, JP |
Read the book - more info in there than you can possibly imagine...
