axial cam seal--camshaft
Should I have gotten 2 replacement axial seal (one pressfit into each chaincover--provides conduit for lube oil to camshaft) in my engine gasget kit (2.0)?? Don't seem to be able to locate on website (nomenclature suspect). Thanks Steve

Are you talking about a real-early 911 with center-oil-fed camshafts?

Exactly--901/01 I had no idea as to the rarity of these seals--spoke with your reps/Stoddard ect to no avail. Seals are referred to in Bruce Anderson's book p-51. Am afraid I made a real error in removing existing seals-(case was uneven--elected to glass sand to flat--to do so removed seals--destroying same--actually heated surround in trying to remove intact--was unsuccessful) --- always have replacement in hand when working on 40 yr old anything. Have posted on your website + early 911s registry + rennlist without response as of yet. Any observations?? Project grinds to halt..... Thanks for the inquiry Steve L.

Nick Moss (early 911s.co.uk) has responded to a post with what appears to be the part #---901.105.592.01. Anyone got a pair of these laying around??

If you type that number into our search engine, it shows them as still available through Porsche, although they are not cheap:

Well, at this juncture, that looks pretty reasonable--Thank you -- (yet another feature of Pel/pts discovered). Hopefully they are indeed yet available---, in retrospect, my error was in not checking availability prior to removal(and destruction)----I would have opted to replace---they were very brittle. Thanks again, Steve L
