What size of TWM Throttle body to use?
Hi, just doing the planning for my next engine. It will be based on a 930/03 case, using the 98 mm Mahle P/C combo with the stock SC crankshaft, S cams. Car will be dual plugged and will have SSI exhaust, single outlet muffler.
Car will be a street machine, perhaps occasional track days, but will primarily be used for touring around in my "twilight years" which are rapidly approaching. Intent is to use the TWM "Weber carburetor replacement" throttle bodies along with something like a TEC 3 engine management system. Any advice as to the proper diameter of throttle bodies to select for best all around performance? Thanks Dennis |
Wow, that TWM throttle body set-up looks great. Can I ask how much you expect the TWM TB plus the TEC3 FI to cost?
Thanks, JP |

Sounds like a very nice setup, wish I knew the answer but keep us apprised.

Richard Clewett would be good to chat with re. your planned setup. He sells the parts and should have a good idea of what works well with what engines.

heres mine (shameless pic plug)
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1076264339.gif sizing isnt as critical with throttle bodies as with carbs...no venturi 44 should be fine...if not 48's.. last time I talked with TWM the 44's were a few weeks until they made some more.. |
I guess I was planning on using the 3003 series which is at - http://www.twminduction.com/ThrottleBody/ThrottleBody3006-FR.html - which says they are available in 40, 44, 46 and 48 mm sizes. The inidividual throttle body set up is indeed gorgeous, but more than what I need and definitely more pricey...although sizing ought to be the same.

Use the 46s. For street driving, they might even be too big, but they are the smallest you can get.

all of the above are from the same castings.. |
Dennis, take also a look at this company http://www.jenvey.co.uk, the price seems reasonable.. and they have a couple of distributors in Canada...
My next year (or so) project goes along the same lines as yours... but I will be using the MegaSquirt engine management. Keep us posted!! regards |
The 3006 featured in the link (which I was referring to) above is only available in 46mm.
